On Friday, we will be moving to an apartment in the city. We've been staying at a Residence Inn about 10 miles south of the city. It's in an industrial park.
Some of the positives of the Residence Inn:
- A very nice path runs behind the hotel and through the industrial park along the bay, through a boat yard. Karen and I have run it the past two days.
- There is a happy hour from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays with food, a keg of beer, and some wine. That makes Dad very happy.
- Heated pool and spa in the backyard. Despite the cooler temps, it's nice to relax in the water.
- On this running path, the kids and I have seen some of the largest rats I have ever come in contact with in my life. Karen and I did not notice them on our early morning runs. I think it is because they are still sleeping off the previous night's drunk. BONUS: The dude at the marina office told us that the squirrels carry bubonic plague (WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!), and that there was an action taken earlier in the year to trap them and dispose of them.
- There've been "issues" with the keg over the past two days, cutting the time it is available down by about a half-hour. Not too bad because there is still the food, but a little annoying because they still quickly whisk the keg away at 7:30 PM... Ha! Speaking of issues, Dan!... :/
- The heater in the pool at our hotel has been out of order since we arrived on Saturday. But, we have been able to cross the parking lot and use the overchlorinated, indoor pool at the Courtyard. That has sufficed, though.
I'm also hoping for more opportunity to DO THINGS when we are living within the city (and easier, cheaper access to public transportation.)
We'll keep you posted. Thanks to everyone who is keeping in touch! We'll talk to you soon!
Here are some pictures from the past week. :)

Love the pictures and the narrative. It sure beats a scrapbook or slide show of someone's trip.
